A new Tech-tonic shift
The last major disruption caused by a tech-tonic shift occurred when Steve Jobs introduced portable touchscreen computers to the masses in the form of the iPhone. The winners of that transition didn't just build an app in front of their existing business models, but used it as a platform to restructure entire markets (e.g. AirBnB, Uber).
The same will hold true with the new generation of AI, and this disruption is going to happen faster than at anytime before. OpenAI and Hugging Face have democratized access to immense capabilities with LLMs. However, merely using this new found power to create a better Chatbot isn’t going to be anything remarkable.
But rethinking the very foundations in which industries are built on? Now that’s the beginning of something interesting.
